p.m. at tony tantillo park. the other big question will the rain get in the way of the game? >> it was fun. how about the weather? >> it was wet at the end of the game yesterday. we're not done with it yet. look at the clouds off the coast. expected to see more stormy weather sweeping onshore. let's time it out. rain developing overnight. more showers tomorrow morning and by 5:00 at game time, the clouds will part just a little bit and i think we're going to be okay. there's a slight chance of a stray shower. nothing to postpone the game. the temperatures in the 50s and 60s. so dress warmly if you are going. >> thank you. in other news, oakland police used a surprise attack to catch several dangerous suspects in a murder case and cbs 5 reporter elissa

harrington now with how it all went down. good afternoon. >> reporter: hi, elizabeth. oakland police along with the s.w.a.t. team and several other outside agencies were out early this morning around 5:30 a.m. serving search warrants. they arrested suspected gang members who they say are related to the murder of a 20- year-old man. oakland police might be one step closer to solving a murder that happened almost one year ago. officers along with s.w.a.t. and outside agencies arrested four people at four locations serving high risk search warrants early this morning. >> they are dangerous and in residences where firearms are linked, these individuals that may be present. >> reporter: one of the raids at this home on east 20th avenue and 13th street, this is the same area where back in january, four people were shot. 20-year-old jordan chit died. police believe these arrests are tied to that shooting. >> through diligent police

work, officers and investigators have identified these suspects and articulated probable cause to a magistrate who agreed and they were arrested. >> reporter: investigators say the january shooting was gang- related. they won't say what led them to make the arrests today and what evidence they have. >> this is one of many cases in which our investigators continue to ask the public for help and we continue to make progress in. >> reporter: so the house we were at today was a few blocks away from where that shooting happened on the option of end of san antonio park. the suspects are still being questioned and have not officially been charged. elizabeth? >> thank you, elissa harrington. some more bay area headlines now. police say a domestic fight in san jose ended with a girlfriend pulling out a gun and shooting her boyfriend dead at a house party over the weekend. 26-year-old [ indiscernible ] died at the scene. and 20-year-old anna cohn is under arrest police say alcohol played a factor.

the death marks the 38th homicide of the year for san jose. >> reporter: the trial began for a man accused of raping three women in san francisco's mission district. frederic dozier, jr. was in court charged with raping, beating and robbing women between june and december of last year. the trial is expected to last two weeks. pg&e reportedly says some of its pipelines in the bay area are safe but they don't have proof they were actually tested. the "san francisco chronicle" reports pipes in martinez, newark, fremont, san jose, concord and the bay point areas are at elevated risk of failure from internal corrosion. pg&e told regulators the pipes written respected as required but now the utility says they don't have records of the testing. pg&e says that problem does not exist elsewhere in the system. a transit bus crashed

closing down hollywood boulevard in l.a. this morning. the crash happened around 8 a.m. when the bus was t-boned by a car. the bus crushed another car in another lane. 20 passengers on board the bus, not known if any were injured. on i-5 in l.a. nine big rigs crashed by a jackknifed big rig. one trucker is in the hospital after firefighters pried him out of his demolished rig. two-lane tunnel in the area was closed until a couple of minutes ago. with two weeks left until election day the presidential candidates left it all on the debate floor last night. cbs reporter tara mergener with the final push for the white house. >> reporter: president obama hit the campaign trail early rallying supporters in del rey beach florida at a debate with mitt romney. >> during the debate he said he didn't want more troops in iraq. but he was caught on video

saying it was unthinkable not to leave 20,000 troops in iraq. >> reporter: romney posed for pictures with police officers in florida this morning before heading to nevada and colorado. bows candidates are beginning an all-out blitz of key battleground states in the final two weeks of the campaign. during last night's foreign policy debate, the candidates clashed over military size and spending, russia and iran but answers drift back to the economy. >> america must be strong. america must lead. and for that to happen, we have to strengthen our economy here at home. you can't have 23 million people struggling to get a job. >> both at home and abroad he proposed wrong and reckless policies. >> reporter: when it was over a cbs news instant poll of uncommitted voters gave a clear victory to president obama, 53 to 23%. romney surprised some debate watchers when he didn't attack the president for his administration's handling on the deadly attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya.

another round of weak corpoe earnings reports. both "3-m" and "dupont" slashed r earnings forecast. right

now, the dow is stocks suffering their biggest sell-off in four months after weak corporate earnings reports. dupont slashing its earnings forecast. down 210 points right now. so really tanking today. yesterday was a tough day, as well. target is selling its consumer credit card business to td bank a portfolio worth about $6 billion. under the new deal, td bank will decide which applications are accepted and what interest rates to charge customers. the agreement does not have any impact on target's red card credit cardholders who get a 5% discount on purchases. a growing tech company is moving to the midmarket area right here in san francisco. the mobile payment system company square is going to set up shop near 11th and market streets. it started with only 10 employees in the "chronicle" building but needs room to expand to about 1,000 workers now. the square is expected to move into its new space in the middle of next year.

the rumors were true. the ipad mini is finally here. apple introduced the smaller version of its hit ipad. the screen is about two-thirds the size weighs less than a pound. apple says it's not just i recreation of the ipad but a whole new product. >> this just isn't a shrunken down ipad. it's an entirely new design with a beautiful aluminum glass enclosure where every detail is finely crafted and made just exquisite and the process by which they are manufactured are at a level of tolerances unseen in our industry. there is nothing as amazing as this. >> and another big question mark was the price. well it's going to be $329. apple starts taking orders for the mini ipad starting this friday. the food and drug administration is investigating reports of 5 deaths that may be connected to those monster energy drinks. the fda said the reports do not necessarily prove the deaths

were caused by those highly caffeinated beverages. one of the cases involves a 14- year-old girl who died of heart problems after drinking two monster drinks in two days. her family has filed a lawsuit. up next, from food trucks to pop-ups, bay area foodies love to eat out. but how safe really is it? we're going to look into a new investigation called watching what you eat. coming up. >> we are seeing a little sunshine peeking between the clouds but don't be fooled. there's still some more rain on the way. we'll tell you when coming up next. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

welcome back. we're going to check our weather forecast with lawrence. it's still gray out there. looks like no rain. >> still some clouds in the bay area. kind of settled down. we had some good cells moving through early on today but high- def doppler radar is showing you it's quiet in most of the bay area with one exception. let's take you in a little further north. that's right. north of santa rosa near healdsburg we have one cell that's approaching the coastline bringing some scattered light showers in that direction. that's kinds of what we're going to see. not going to see a rainout but there's a chance of a couple of widely scattered showers around the bay area. so with that in mind, the temperatures are going to stay cool , numbers in the 50s and also the 60s right now. i think as we head through the afternoon, a little breezy at the coastline. could see a scattered shower or two and that's about it.

then tonight, showers becoming more likely as we'll see some moisture moving in off the coastline and into the bay area. but then there's some drier weather on the way. but that doesn't come until after wednesday. so we're not done with the system just yet. we continue to see it sit off the coastline. that pumps in some of the moist air off the pacific. another band is going to put itself together tonight and move into the bay area. we could see a little soaker overnight into tomorrow morning. our computer models picking up on it pretty well showing the bland splitting apart moving across the bay area. could be a wet commute early on tomorrow. even in the middle of the day a couple of of cells towards santa rosa. we are not done with the rain yet. cool, brisk and breezy around the bay area in the 60s. next couple of days things settle down later wednesday. by thursday i think just some partly cloudy skies should remain dry, warmer weather is expected over the weekend. in fact, back well into the 70s on saturday and sunday. probably dry through monday, too. so we have some great weather coming our way. looks like high pressure will be building in toward the

weekend and we should be seeing great weather coming in our direction. couple of more days. we have the world series. >> no rain delays. it is starting to feel like fall. thank you. let's go over to frank now with a look at a special series from our radio partner kcbs. >> we are what we eat of course but some bay area foodies that may not be a good thing. budget woes and tens of thousands of restaurants here in the bay area have left food inspectors a difficult task keeping the public save. doug sovern is heading up the latest investigation called watching what you eat. the ratio of these inspectors in the restaurants is crazy. >> reporter: we looked at three counties, san francisco, santa clara and alameda counties. 36,000 restaurants in the counties and only 100 inspectors. think about that. hundreds of restaurants each and for the food trucks there are even more food trucks than a year or two ago 350 food trucks per county.

they have one inspector in each county to check all these food trucks. >> so it's impossible really to go to every restaurant and key an eye on it. >> it's not impossible. but it's difficult. they said, we went out in the field with them. they are overwhelmed, understaffed, begging for help. each has to cover hundreds of restaurants a year. they will inspect them once or twice a year. it's difficult to keep up. >> there's been some restaurants here in the city prominent ones that have been shut down for a number of reasons. >> they have closed nine restaurants in san francisco in the last two years. alameda county just went to a new system three months ago. they closed 40 restaurants in the last three months as they have gone out and stepped up these inspections. they find cockroaches, rats, they find people not keeping the hot enough or cold enough. the vast majority of restaurants are safe, clean, they pass. but there are those that -- that things aren't so good and you wouldn't want to see what's in the kitchen. >> you have reports all week long on kcbs radio and the next one you're going in with an inspector. has it changed the way you're going to eat now? >> yeah. i asked the inspector where do

you eat? >> at home? >> he said i don't get a seat facing the kitchen because i know what's going on. we have one airing today where we go to a restaurant in the kitchen with the inspector, tomorrow we go with the food trucks. they run all week through friday. >> thank you. back to you. >> makes you want to cook at home. thanks, guys. all right. in your healthwatch this afternoon, a breast cancer treatment designed to reduce complications may actually create more. brac atherapy injects radioactive material into the site of the cancer. older women choose this practice usually. researchers have been looking into the treatment and say 17% of the women who had the procedure were more likely to have problems such as skin damage organic diets for kids may not be worth extra money as a study says there is no nutritional value over conventionally grown foods.

well, today's tip of the day is going to be is pomegranites. what's fall without pomegranites? they are fantastic in so many different recipes but, of course, you can buy the juice

already done but fresh pomegranites on salad, the seeds are great. but you have to select them and store them right or otherwise they are going to be dry. they are not going to taste good. you want to make sure they are beautiful red all the way around. just like this. if there's some cracking to the pomegranate that's better. that's the seeds inside there bursting with flavor and juice. if they are a little green and small, there is a good chance they are not going to taste that good. when you bring them home, store them on the counter, do not store them in the refrigerator. one thing about pomegranites it's messy and hard to eat because it can stain. but if you cut them in quarters, i said this before, put them in water, open it up inside, get the colander and scoop out the seeds and avoid the mess. pomegranites in the fall. it's a must. i'm tony tantillo, your fresh grocer. and always remember to eat fresh and stay healthy. >> all right. halloween is almost here. and lg is using its new ips
